The rules governing ORMF and other local festivals are listed in the Provincial Syllabus. The following document outlines our festival regulations for teachers and entrants to be aware of.

Additional Information

  • Do not contact the Venue Offices asking about the festival. Please contact the Festival Office. Your inquiry will be returned as quickly as possible.
  • NO changes in the scheduling will be allowed unless there is a Festival conflict with multiple disciplines OR there is an unpredictable event or opportunity involving the competitor.
  • Please arrive earlier than the scheduled time for each session. There are many times sessions run early or blend together.
  • Admission to ORMF for those 18-64 years of age is $10.00/per day. All other admissions are FREE.
  • Season Tickets are also available for purchase. This covers ALL ORMF events EXCLUDING the Grand Concert. They are are available for $35.00.

Performer’s Festival Etiquette 

  • DRESS
    • Semi-formal performance attire is strongly recommended. It is suggested that boys wear dress shoes, dress pants, and button-down shirts (tie is optional). Girls are encouraged to wear dress shoes, and dress pants or skirts or dresses. Casual wear, such as runners, flip-flops, jeans, and t-shirts are not acceptable attire for performances.  Outer wear, such as boots and jackets should not be worn for any performances or awards presentations.
  • PERFORMANCE
    • Performers are requested to introduce their selections on stage prior to performing. Following the performance, the performer should acknowledge the applause with a bow and in certain dischiplines, acknowledge their accompanists with an appropriate gesture.
  • BEHAVIOUR
    • Performers are to remain seated, quiet, and respectful during all performances. It is recommended that they follow the schedule and remain ready when approaching their turn. Afterwards, please move to the front row for adjudication and remain silent and attentive during the adjudicator’s remarks.

Audience Festival Etiquette

  • ELECTRONIC DEVICES
    • Cell phones, tablets, pagers and etc. must be turned off inside ALL performance venues.
    • Flash Photography is prohibited during ALL performances.
  • RECORDING
    • Videoing the performance of your OWN child/student is allowed, provided you remain still and unobtrusive. Adjudicator remarks are not to be recorded.
  • BEHAVIOUR
    • All audience members should remain seated and quiet during all performances. Audience members must not engage in conversation with the adjudicator before or after the performance other than to say “Thank You”.
    • Adults are responsible for their own toddlers/babies. If they start causing noise and disruption, the adult must immediately remove them from the theatre.
