Below, we have answers to some questions that we are often asked.

If you have any other specific questions, please reach out to oilsandsrotarymusicfest@telus.net.

When do we have to arrive?

Please arrive AT LEAST 15 minutes prior to the start time of your scheduled class.

When happens if a competitor arrives late?

This is often a case-by-case scenario, however, in most situations, the participant may be allowed to perform at the end of their scheduled session. If the entire session is missed, they may not be able to receive adjudication.

Are there any practice rooms available?

No. Please arrive warmed up and ready to perform. If needed, there are washrooms available to change if needed.

Is there a dress code?

Yes. Semi-formal performance attire is strongly recommended. In cases of costumes, performances are open to all ages meaning costumes must be family friendly. See more details on specific dress code in Festival Etiquette Menu.

What music do we bring?

You must bring original music for your pieces. These must be handed into the ticket take table upon checking in.

What happens during a session?

All the performers perform the selection scheduled for this time. The adjudicator then comes to the stage, addresses their comments on each performance and in some cases will work with the participants. After this, the adjudicator gives each performer a certificate/adjudication sheet and returns their original music.

How do we watch the performances?

All performances are open to the public! Admission for those 18 – 64 is $8.00 (per day) or you can purchase a Season Pass for ($30.00) which is good for all festival events excluding the Grand Concert.

Do all Platinum performances qualify for Provincials?

No. There are several criteria to qualify for Provincials. Please check the syllabus for specific details.
